Marc Séguin

Sublime Noirceur — Exhibition presented in Trois-Rivières
Nov. 27, 2021 to Jan. 16, 2022

Exhibition outside the gallery

A graduate of Concordia University's Bachelor of Fine Arts program, Marc Séguin is a proud Quebecer who shines both here and internationally. Not only has he exhibited his work in several museums such as the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, he has also presented his work in several countries. As a painter, printmaker, novelist and filmmaker, Marc Séguin has held several solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions and international fairs in Madrid, Barcelona, Venice, Berlin, Cologne, New York, Miami, Chicago, Brussels and Namur.

The selection of works presented in Sublime Noirceur by Anne-Catherine Léonard of Galerie Simon Blais was made intuitively: the exhibition will include a selection of different series that represent Marc Séguin's artistic career and works that the curator particularly appreciates. The ensemble is divided into two categories: the human figure and landscapes.

Presented in collaboration with Galerie Simon Blais, the exhibition is based on current events, thus confronting visitors with their reality, unvarnished, with the violence that it can sometimes involve. While much has been said or written about Marc Séguin and his work, each new look at a painting generates its own interpretations and experiences. This will be an opportunity for some visitors to discover or rediscover this fascinating work!
