Serge Emmanuel Jongué

Nomade
Sept. 14, 2011 to Oct. 15, 2011

Three series of photographs make up the exhibition Nomade by Serge Emmanuel Jongué. Each of them explores in its own way the concepts so important to the artist: memory, roots, identity. Jongué liked to approach his subjects as raw materials, rather than direct referents. He wrote: “The work examines traces of memory […] From the outset, what lies outside the initial shot places the image in a mental space whose fictive tendencies allow me great freedom of expression. The title given to the image—what anchors it—is an integral part of the photograph.” (S. E. Jongué, November 2003). Simultaneously with the exhibition Nomade, a retrospective of his work, Boarding Pass, will be presented at the Maison de la culture Côte-des-Neiges from September 8 to October 16.
