Peter Hoffer was born in Brantford, Ontario, in 1965. He has an MFA from Concordia University in Montreal as well as degrees from the University of Guelph, Ontario, and the Ontario College of Art in Toronto. He has participated in many solo and group exhibitions in Canada and abroad. These exhibits include Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery (1985); Zavitz Art Gallery in Guelph (1992, 1993); Guelph Civic Museum (1993); Artifice Gallery in Syracuse, New York (1994, 1997); Espace 440 in Montreal (1999); Convergence International Arts Festival in Providence, Rhode Island (1999); and Salle Alfred-Pellan in Laval, Quebec (1999). Peter Hoffer has participated in many group exhibitions in venues such as Galerie La Reja, France (1991); Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery, Ontario (1992); Guelph Civic Museum, Ontario (1993); Carol Freidman Gallery, New York (1994); Leonard and Bina Ellen Gallery, Montreal (1996); Galerie Simon Blais, Montreal (2000, 2001, 2003, 2005); and Nicholas Metivier Gallery, Toronto (2006). He has also created several installations in Ontario and Quebec. Peter Hoffer has received the Experimental Arts Award from the Ontario College of Art (1991), the Odette Scholarship Award of Toronto (1991), a scholarship from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (1999), and the Canada Council Travel Grant (1999). His work is part of many public and private collections.
