JEAN-SÉBASTIEN DENIS

Jean-Sébastien Denis was born in Quebec in 1970. In 1997 he completed his Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts at UQAM, where he received top graduate honours by winning the Jacques de Tonnancour Award. During his studies, he participated in the Young Painters of Canada Symposium. Since then, he has taken part in many group exhibitions, among them Artifice in 1998 and Génération Montréal, Ville peinture, in 2002. That same year, he began an association with Galerie Simon Blais.

Solo exhibitions were presented at the Art Company in Toronto; at the Charest-Weinberg Gallery in Key West; and at Galerie d’art d’Outremont, Maison de la culture du Plateau-Mont-Royal, Société des arts sur papier and Galerie Simon Blais in Montreal. An exhibition with Julie Ouellet was also held at Galerie Horace in Sherbrooke.

Jean-Sébastien Denis has received a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts and his work can be found in numerous institutional and corporate collections. Since 2006, a series of paintings have been on display at the World Trade Centre Montreal.
